Designed to help those leading lives in substance use recovery successfully re-enter the workforce, participants referred to our program will assist in constructing 15 houses over the course of the program’s three-year POWER Grant cycle.
The Hope Building program utilizes ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) funding to increase the long-term success rate of recovering individuals, while simultaneously rebuilding the local housing market. Participants exit the program with newfound hope. Armed with new skills, an accredited education, and a solid work history, their chances of finding permanent employment are greatly enhanced and the likelihood of relapse is significantly less.

Want to help make a life-changing recovery program in the mountains of East Kentucky possible? We can’t do it without you! Every gift – no matter the amount – is appreciated.
Are you determined to stay in recovery? The door to a better life is wide open – all you have to do is step on through! Hope Building participants are selected and referred to us by Hickory Hill Recovery Center or one of our participating local drug courts. Our trainees have all reached a significant point in their recovery process. If you’re interested in applying for Hope Building, please inform the director of your recovery or Drug Court program. HDA encourages directors and counselors of substance use recovery programs in the four counties we serve to refer eligible clients to our program. We look forward to meeting and interviewing the men and women selected as we search for each group of six trainees! Details for contacting our program director are listed below.
Hope Building is made possible by a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
